Dear Friends all around the world.
Christmas is a very special time for me and for everyone regardless of their religion.I'm a Catholic so I celebrate the birth of baby Jesus.But the angels tell me that this time of the year is special in all faiths and traditions and not just for people who are Christians. The angels tell me that from November until the new year there is great celebration in heaven and here on earth there are holy occasions in all religions.
Since I was a child I have seen angels streaming from the Heavens and dropping balls of light upon every home during the period from November to early January. It doesn’t matter what sort of home it is - big or small even if it is a doorway or a hostel, or what religion – if any, the people are. These angels are bringing us gifts from God in Heaven - the gift of love, hope, and peace.
I caught a glimpse of one of these angels just now as I was walking back from having lunch with my daughter Ruth and my grandson. The angel was in the sky flying over a house on a small lane. The angel was full of light and its body was flowing as if in a breeze, it looked neither male nor female. It seemed to have a ray of light coming from it and it was holding on to a ball that seemed to flicker with a golden light. I could see and feel so much love and compassion and joy coming from the angel and when it dropped the ball of light it did so with such care. The ball dropped gently and before it hit the roof it seemed to explode into sparks of light which lit up every nook and cranny of the house. Then the angel just disappeared.
These balls of light are very precious gifts from God to fill us all with the true spirit of Christmas which the angels tell me is love, hope and peace.
The angels encourage us all at this time to reach out to everyone with kindness. They have been showing me that for many of us our Christmases have become too materialistic – too much about things and that because many people are worried and stressed about money that they are finding it hard to feel the real spirit of Christmas. This in turn is being felt by children who are holding back on enjoying Christmas because they are aware of the financial concerns of their parents.
Last weekend I was in a shopping centre with my fifteen year old daughter Megan. There were lots of families there surrounded by loads of angels who were full of the joy of Christmas, many of the angels were singing. They were singing together and it was a high and sweet sound full of joy. The angels were celebrating and trying to fill everyone there with joy. Sometimes at this time of the year I think angels become like children themselves.
I went into a big toy store and the angels attracted my attention to a mother and father with three young children, a boy of about eight and two little girls. They were surrounded by angels. The little girl of six was looking at dolls with her older brother beside her. She picked up a doll and he whispered in her ear. I couldn’t hear what he was saying. The angels with them looked down at them with such love and compassion. One angel looked over at me and told me without words that the boy was telling his sister that the doll she was looking at was too expensive for their mom and dad.
Another angel whispered to the little boy and he took his sister’s hand and they walked down along the shelves. He pointed out another doll to his little sister. Her face lit up and she picked up the doll and cradled it in her arms. The angels told me that this doll was only half the price of the previous one she had looked at. The little girl held out the doll to her father as he came towards them and I saw the relief on his face when he saw the price on this doll. The angels all around them cheered for joy clapping their hands as the mother and father became little less anxious and more filled with the spirit of Christmas.
The father turned to his son and asked whether he had seen anything he would like. One of the angels with them told me that the boy had wanted a bike, but that the parents couldn’t afford one this Christmas. I could see his guardian angel whispering in his ear and instead of going towards part of the store with bikes the boy walked along the shelves with other toys and games. He didn’t just look at the toys but at the prices too. Ahead of him by a display stand stood an enormous angel. The angel looked as if he was dressed in a costume for Christmas, there were squares of red and gold and inside each square was a silver star. I can’t remember ever seeing an angel dressed like that before. The angel called out to the boy. I could hear the angel but the boy didn’t. His guardian angel bent over him and whispered to him. The boy looked directly at the angel standing ahead of him – the way he looked I thought that perhaps he could see the angel, but the angels told me he couldn’t. He walked straight towards the angel and looked at the display stand beside him. His face lit up as he saw the games there and he picked a game up, I didn't see the name of the game on the box - I wouldn't have really been able to read it anyway but the boy looked so happy. I could see again the relief on the father and mother’s faces as they saw what he wanted.
I watched the family for another few minutes as they walked around the store. There was such a difference, the parents that seem to be much lighter and brighter than they had been earlier. The angels with them told me that they had relaxed and stopped worrying so much and were now feeling the Christmas spirit.
Children want their parents to feel the spirit of Christmas. They want the parents to smile and to laugh and that is more important to them than the presents. A lot of children would be happier to have smaller presents but to have more time with their parents doing the simple things like helping to make a cake or decorations the Christmas tree.
The angels are telling me to ask all of you to spend less time worrying about presents or making a perfect Christmas dinner and more on enjoying time with your family and friends.
Christmas is a time to put aside any differences or irritations within our families and our community. Let us all try this Christmas to open our hearts even to those who we may have had rows with or not talked to for years. Sometimes families have fought over things which on reflection are quite trivial, families have fought over money, over things said or done. Sometimes after a marriage break up or a divorce people can end up quite isolated – even homeless. This is a time for opening your heart – and your door and welcoming people in.
I hear from many people that they hate Christmas because they find it lonely. Do you suspect that someone you know feels lonely, unloved or uncared for. Maybe you and your family can open your hearts and invite them to your home for Christmas dinner. You may have to encourage them to say yes, even offer to go and collect them. If there has been a falling out people sometimes forget how to say yes and need some encouragement. By making someone feel wanted this Christmas, by showing them some love you can give the gift of hope this Christmas – you can be a lifeline to someone by reaching out with a pure heart and expecting nothing in return.
There are people in need this Christmas, people who have very little or are even homeless. Maybe this year they are having a harder time than in previous years. Perhaps you can find the kindness, no matter what is happening in your life to help them. When we share what we have with others we give them hope and and fill their hearts with joy.
The angels tell me that we all need to become more compassionate – and to stop judging. Don't say to yourself that that person doesn't deserve help. The shepherds and three wise kings never felt that about Mary and Joseph, and baby Jesus, even though they were homeless and sleeping in a cave with the animals. They shepherds and wise kings brought gifts with a pure heart expecting nothing in return and we should all do the same.
We are all part of one world, we may not be able to help everyone materially but we can say a prayer for them. Prayer is so powerful. At this time it is very important that we pray not just for our family and friends but for our whole world.
This is a special time for all and the angels tell me that they celebrate it with us in Heaven. At this special time I see angels at this time dropping balls of light onto our homes, bringing each and every one of us the gift of love, hope and peace.
I ask all of you to accept this wonderful gift from God this Christmas.
